What OX7 covers

OX7 is the north Oxfordshire Cotswolds postcode. It spans two distinct characters: the self-contained market town of Chipping Norton to the north-east, and the more rural Charlbury belt — with its GWR rail station — to the south. The district takes in some of Oxfordshire's most sought-after villages: Kingham, Bledington, Chadlington, Shipton-under-Wychwood, and Milton-under-Wychwood.

This is Cotswold limestone country: honey-coloured dry-stone walls, church-tower silhouettes, and wide valley views. Demand consistently outstrips supply. New-build activity is limited; the market is almost entirely period and 20th-century stock.

Areas in OX7

Chipping Norton

The district's largest town (~7,000 people). Independent high street, weekly market, theatre (The Chipping Norton Theatre — one of the UK's smallest professional theatres), primary and secondary schools. More affordable than the wider Cotswolds. No rail, but bus links to Oxford and Banbury.

Charlbury

Small, characterful town on the Evenlode Valley. The GWR Cotswold Line station (Oxford ~25 min, London Paddington ~90 min) makes it the district's most rail-connected settlement. Very popular with hybrid professionals.

Kingham

Much-praised Cotswold village with a GWR Cotswold Line station (London ~90 min). The Wild Rabbit (Daylesford group) put it on the food-lover's map. Extremely limited housing supply; prices reflect strong demand.

Bledington

Small, classic Cotswold village with a pub on the green (King's Head Inn, AA Pub of the Year 2023). Very limited supply; popular with Londoners downsizing into the countryside.

Chadlington

Quiet village near the Evenlode Valley; popular with Oxford academics and creative professionals. Good walking access to Wychwood Forest and the Oxfordshire Way.

Shipton / Milton-under-Wychwood

Larger Wychwood villages with a broader price range and more family housing. Good village amenities; accessible to Burford and Witney to the south.
